Working the Plan 

A good developmental plan has short term objectives, longer term activities, and gets revised from time to time.

For some clients, we function as a co-owner of the plan - providing periodic review and updates.  For others we take an active role and afford "the next generation" an executive coach that assists them to develop.  In other situations we're asked to shift our focus and provide advice and counsel to either the current business owner or some one they've designated.          

Time and risk quite often determines our role.  Two years to prepare the next generation is different than five, ten, or twenty.  Preparing to take responsibility for a mature business in a mature industry is different than a rapidly growing entity in an unstable marketplace.
